Welcome to my blog. This is a space where I’ll post rambling thoughts on issues that are important to me. My plan is to leave comments open in order to build conversations around these topics. I won’t tolerate hate speech or name calling.
Since I’m a white, cis, hetero, male-identifying human, that will be the perspective I write from. My goal is mainly to educate others with similar privileged backgrounds, as well as to create space for BIPOC and QUILTBAG (look these up if you don’t know what they stand for) visitors to safely comment if they feel so inclined.
I’m embracing being wrong as a spiritual practice. So many conversations never arrive at truth because we’re unconsciously more concerned with being perceived as right than we are at arriving at the truth, because often the truth can be uncomfortable and result in us having to acknowledge we were in the wrong.
Self-awareness, radical honesty, compassionate and non-reactive listening, and a willingness to be wrong and be accountable for your mistakes are all essential to engaging in healthy dialogue.
I’m excited to start this process on my site, and hope you’ll join me!
